Step 2. Your customer is directed to Opayo

On this page:

Overview

Our response to your valid Transaction Request contains the NextURL so you can immediately redirect your customer to Opay's payments page. This is the first time your customer will notice anything after clicking your Pay Now button. Your Transaction Request POST and our response are completely invisible to them.

Our Payments Page

Using our Page Customiser, you can customise the Opayo page to match your own site's experience. For example, you can add your company logo and list the items your customer is ordering.

This gives your customer confidence that they can safely choose from the available payment methods, enter their payment details, and agree to complete the transaction.

Note: You can download our customisable payment page templates from the Opayo website.

a. Your Customer Chooses a Payment Method

Your customer must choose a payment type from those you have activated on your account. For example:

  • Card
  • PayPal
  • European Payment

Card Payment

When you customer chooses to pay with a card then they must enter their payment card details.

PayPal and European Payments

The PayPal option is presented when you are a certified PayPal Business account holder and you have PayPal payments activated on your Opayo account. Similarly, for European Payments.

b. Your Customer Enters Their Details

Card Payment

After your customer enters their payment card details onto the page and before we communicate with the bank we check:

  • That the selected card type matches the card number
  • The Card number using a Luhn check (except for Maestro)
  • Verification against our Issuer Identification Number database.
  • The expiry date is not in the past

When the details are valid, we present a confirmation page. This is their last opportunity to cancel the transaction.

PayPal and European Payments

PayPal customers are redirected to PayPal to enter the required payment details. When complete, PayPal returns your customer to our transaction confirmation page. This is their last opportunity to cancel the transaction.

European Payment customers must confirm the transaction on our transaction confirmation page. This is their last opportunity to cancel the transaction. When they confirm the transaction, they are redirected to their bank login page to enter their payment details.
